Dari FitzGerald Design / 2016 - Present

  • Owner: In early 2016, I voluntarily left a full-time position to focus on freelance design and the search for new challenges. I have continued to create innovative infographics, marketing materials, and other visual assets delivered on time, and outside the box.

The Motley Fool / 2007 - 2016

  • Marketing Designer: As a marketing designer, I focused on delighting existing members, and creating future members. To do this, I leveraged ad campaigns, landing pages, emails, logos, and other visual assets. I couldn’t have done this without collaborating closely with developers, marketing managers, copywriters, and other designers to test into successful solutions.
  • Photo Editor: During my time as photo editor, I curated, and personally took, thousands of photos for use in the company’s editorial and marketing materials. My greatest contribution was leveraging our eLance network of contractors around the world to photograph areas and subjects that were out of reach for those of us at headquarters. In less than six months, I built a Flickr library of over 13,500 company-owned photos.
  • Infographic Designer: I love unravelling complex ideas and information through visual media - something that can be particularly challenging with financial concepts. In 2011, I shared a Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) prize for my infographic contributions to a series detailing the collapse of financial giant MF Global.
  • User Experience Designer: If your audience can’t intuitively consume your media and information, then you won’t have much of an audience. I enjoy collaborating with developers and other designers to craft a clear process through which users can access all products and services with ease.
  • Design Strategy: As a designer, I believe strongly that collaboration and an understanding of the challenges faced by a business are necessary to efficiently solve challenges. I problem-solve by interacting with team members and clients, prototyping and user-testing, looking for the unexpected, and leveraging all the tools and data available to me.

Doceus / 2005 - 2007

  • Senior Graphic Designer: At Doceus, I crafted websites and other visual assets after meeting with clients to determine business needs and goals. Through targeted feedback and input, we iterated together toward deliverables that met and exceeded their expectations.
  • Logo Design and Brand Development: I enjoy creating simple, clear, and clever visual marks to support a brand. All my logos begin life as pencil sketches to allow for the client and I to make sure we’re on the same page.

The George Washington University / 2002 - 2005

  • Marketing Graphic Designer: As a designer, I created websites, print materials, and logos for clients throughout the university. I met with clients to determine their department’s requirements and goals, and then sought out feedback throughout the process to ensure stakeholder happiness. During my tenure, I worked directly on the GWU website redesign.
  • Interactive Design: I worked closely with a team of developers to create an interactive map of the University’s campus. This map featured custom-made 3D isometric versions of all campus buildings to aid in user recognition and orientation.
